This scholarship supports graduating seniors from the Tussey Mountain School District in Pennsylvania who are preparing to continue their education at a college or university on a full‑time basis.

Background
The fund was created by James McCavitt after he read a newspaper story about the Sze Lee Memorial Scholarship, which had previously been managed by the Peninsula Community Foundation. He established the award in memory of his parents, James A. McCavitt and Annie LePors McCavitt. Mr. McCavitt wishes his parents to be remembered throughout the Tussey Mountain School District and the Broad Top region of Pennsylvania as examples of parents who encouraged others to “Get an education and make something of yourselves.”
Eligibility
- Current graduating senior at Tussey Mountain School District (PA).
- Intending to enroll full time at a college or university.
- Demonstrated financial need and a commitment to apply knowledge in service‑oriented fields, for example: education, nursing, law enforcement, medical research, or social work.
