Overview
The Alaska Bar Association awards scholarships to law students who have demonstrated connections to Alaska and who plan to return to the state within two years after graduating. Awards are available only to students currently in their first or second year of law school.
Eligibility
- Current 1L or 2L law students.
- Demonstrated ties to Alaska.
- Intention to return to Alaska within two years of graduation.
Deadline
All applications must be submitted to the Alaska Bar Association by March 1.
Required application materials
Each submission must include:
- A fully completed application form.
- Official proof of current enrollment in law school.
- A current resume.
- Documentation verifying Alaska residency or, if residency is not held, a written explanation of ties to Alaska.
- A personal statement addressing: ties to Alaska, intent to return to Alaska, career objectives, reasons for requesting the scholarship, and any other information applicants wish the scholarship fundraising and implementation committee to consider.
Selection process and award information
Decisions are made by the Scholarship Fundraising and Implementation Committee, whose determinations are final. The total number and size of awards depend on the funds available in the scholarship account. Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified in late April.
