San Diego Alumnae Chapter Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., San Diego Alumnae Chapter seeks to recognize and support African-American female high school seniors who demonstrate scholastic achievement, strong leadership, and a commitment to community service.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be African‑American female high school seniors and must live within the San Diego Alumnae Chapter service area.
- Academic requirement: minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or 3.5 on a 5.0 scale) in all classes.
- Leadership requirement: evidence of leadership through involvement in extracurricular activities, community service, and/or holding leadership positions in organizations.
Application requirements and instructions
- Deadline: The complete application packet MUST BE RECEIVED no later than March 31, 2026.
- All parts of the application must be fully completed and the application must be typed.
- A complete packet includes:
- An official high school transcript either (a) in a sealed, unopened envelope from the school or (b) sent electronically directly from the school to sdacscholarship@gmail.com.
- Two (2) typed letters of recommendation.
- One (1) typed essay prepared according to the scholarship essay guidelines found on Page 3 of the application.
- All sections of the application filled out.
Selection, notification, and posting
- Application packets that arrive by the deadline will be reviewed and evaluated by the scholarship committee. Incomplete packets will not be considered and will not be returned for completion.
- Winners will be notified via email (parents/guardians of minor applicants will also be notified). Scholarship recipients’ names will be posted on the San Diego Alumnae Chapter website, www.dstsandiego.org, by March 31, 2026.
Award disbursement
- Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the student after the chapter receives confirmation of current enrollment from the registrar.
- Awards must be used during the academic year in which they are granted; otherwise the award will be forfeited.
