Mat-Su Health Foundation Academic Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Mat-Su Health Foundation
Introduction
This scholarship supports studies in select fields at accredited colleges or universities. Below are the eligibility rules, who may not apply, deadlines, and the documents first-time applicants must submit.
Eligible programs
Applicants enrolled in or pursuing diploma, undergraduate, or graduate degrees in any of the following areas at an accredited institution are eligible:
- Early childhood education
- Special education
- Physical education
- Healthcare
- Human services
- Nonprofit management
Who may apply
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be eligible to receive Federal Student Aid
- Have been a resident of the Matanuska-Susitna (Mat-Su) Borough for at least one year at the time the application is submitted
- Be pursuing one of the programs listed above
Who may not apply
The following persons are excluded from applying:
- Members of the Mat-Su Health Foundation Board of Directors
- Mat-Su Health Foundation executive leadership and program staff who take part in reviewing or evaluating scholarship applications, and their family members
- Members of the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Board of Directors
Definition of family member
For the purposes of disqualification, “family members” includes a disqualified person’s:
- Spouse
- Siblings (whole or half blood) and spouses of siblings
- Children (including legally adopted children)
- Grandchildren and great-grandchildren
- Ancestors
- Spouses of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
Deadlines and notification
- Application deadline for the 2026 scholarship cycle: March 5, 2026
- Applicants will be notified of award decisions by the end of April 2026
Required materials for first-time applicants
First-time applicants must include the following with their application:
- Cost of Attendance (COA) information
- FAFSA Student Aid Index (from your FAFSA Submission Summary)
- Unofficial high school or college transcript
