In line with our commitment to community service, Merel Family Law is delighted to introduce The Merel Future of Chicago Family Law Scholarship. This scholarship, worth $5,000, is open to undergraduates intending to attend law school with a focus on family law. It is designed to support aspiring family law attorneys in achieving their ambitions.

Eligibility Requirements

The Merel Future of Chicago Family Law Scholarship is available to undergraduate students planning to attend law school. While a desire to practice family law after earning a Juris Doctorate is preferred, it is not mandatory.

As part of the selection criteria, applicants should be able to articulate how they intend to use their education to assist individuals dealing with a family law crisis. We are looking for compassionate individuals with sharp legal acumen and a passion for learning.

Applicants must be in good academic standing with their college or university and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Essay Topic

Applicants are required to write a 1,000-word essay explaining their decision to specialize in family law and what motivates them to achieve their academic objectives.

Submission Guidelines

For consideration, applicants must submit the following documents:

  • A current resume
  • An essay (up to 1,000 words) addressing the essay topic
  • A current unofficial transcript
