Gratiot County Fair for Youth Memorial Scholarship

Introduction Established in 2012 by a group of volunteers, the Gratiot County Fair for Youth Memorial Scholarship honors exceptional youth exhibitors at the Fair and helps fund their post‑secondary education. The award also serves as a memorial tribute to dedicated Fair volunteers who are no longer with us. Eligibility - Applicant must be a current exhibitor at the Gratiot County Fair for Youth with a minimum of five years exhibiting experience. Preference will be given to those who have competed in multiple project areas. - Applicant must be either: - a graduating high school senior who has been accepted to a college, university, or trade school, or - a student currently enrolled in their first year at a college, university, or trade program. - Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply. - Applicants should demonstrate leadership ability and a commitment to community service. Number and Amount of Awards - Up to two scholarships may be awarded each year. - Each scholarship may be awarded for up to $750. Application materials and essay - Submit a one‑page, typewritten essay (single page maximum) in an easy‑to‑read font describing the skills you have developed as a Fair exhibitor and explaining how those skills will benefit you in the future. Be sure to address the eligibility criteria above (leadership, community service, and exhibiting experience). - Include at least one personal letter of reference. (End)
