Eligibility and Overview
To qualify for the IEI Scholarship, applicants must be enrolled at a college or university in Illinois, have reached at least junior class standing, and be pursuing an engineering degree in a program accredited by ABET. Students registered in engineering technology programs are not eligible. Candidates must maintain at least a B average in the coursework applied toward their engineering degree and demonstrate financial need.
Required Materials
In addition to completing the provided application form and the accompanying needs-analysis, applicants must submit the following:
- Official transcripts covering all college and university coursework (to be sent under separate cover).
- Two letters of recommendation — examples include one from the department chair or another department faculty member, and one from a past employer or another character reference.
- A typed essay of 200 words or fewer outlining your career objectives as a professional engineer.
