Introduction
Adams & Bischoff is a criminal defense firm located in Charleston, South Carolina, committed to defending individuals who have been treated unfairly. Beyond courtroom advocacy, the firm is invested in improving access to higher education as tuition continues to rise nationwide. To support students who have overcome significant challenges, Adams & Bischoff is offering a scholarship aimed at helping one deserving applicant continue their education.
Scholarship overview
One student will receive a $1,000 award. Applicants must submit a thoughtfully composed, 750-word essay describing the obstacles they have faced and the steps they took to overcome them. The scholarship recipient will be chosen based on the clarity, thoughtfulness, and overall quality of their essay.
Eligibility
- Open to U.S. residents living in any of the 50 states or the District of Columbia.
- Eligible applicants include current high school seniors, students in vocational programs, undergraduate students, and graduate students.
- Applicants must be planning to enroll (or continuing enrollment) in a vocational program or a two- to five-year postsecondary institution for the upcoming academic year.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.
- Immediate family members (parents, children, siblings, spouses) and anyone living in the same household (related or not) of Adams & Bischoff attorneys or staff are not eligible to apply.
Application requirements
To be considered, applicants must submit all of the following:
- A 750-word essay describing the challenges they have encountered and how they overcame them.
- A professional résumé detailing academic and work experience.
- A transcript from their current school.
- First-year college students, recent transfers, and graduate students must submit an official transcript from their prior institution plus an unofficial transcript from their current school.
- High school applicants must provide proof of acceptance to their intended college or university.
Selection
The winner will be selected based on the essay’s thoughtfulness and articulation, along with fulfillment of the eligibility and documentation requirements. The award will be used to assist with educational expenses.
